phantom, piper & fiona

From Cyndy Groves (Groves Family Zoo Matriarch): When we adopted Fiona, our Beagle, from the PWC Shelter in April of 2012, we knew she wouldn't remain our "only child," but we got caught up in pampering her and weren't actively looking for a playmate/sibling for her.  When our wedding anniversary approached in September 2013, my husband and I couldn't think of anything either of us wanted, so we decided we'd give the gift of a forever home to a homeless dog (OK, and an awesome gift to ourselves, too)!  That's when Phantom, our Hound, came into our lives from PAL.  Well, no one consulted with Fiona, and she wasn't exactly enthusiastic upon his arrival.  She slowly began to warm up to him when we decided to foster little Piper for PAL.  Piper became the "peacemaker."  Fiona and Phantom, both fell in lover with her, and the longer she was with us, the more we fell in love with her, too.  It took about a month for us to realize Piper was meant to be a part of our family, and now we have the official GCC (Groves Canine Crew)!

From Chewy & Sissy's Momma, Elaine Beaupre, on Dec. 25, 2013:  It has been 15 months since we adopted Chewy (a.k.a. Zuri) and Sissy (a.k.a. Nala). Their arrival helped fill a void left when we said "goodbye" to Ruffy, our Shih Tzu of 15 years. 3 months ago we said our second "goodbye" to Bailey, Ruffy's best friend. He was 16. Chewy and Sissy are constant companions for my husband, Rick, and are the best at cuddling. Our grandchildren look forward to pictures we send, and help us walk the 2 new family members when they visit. Sissy is such a sweetheart. When we visited the vet, he picked Sissy up and she immediately rolled over in his arms to have her belly rubbed. It gave everyone a reason to smile. We hope to have them with us for many, many years. Thank you for helping us connect with the newest members of our family.

Tyler

From Tyler's Momma (Heather Gutierrez): Happy holidays! This is Tyler (his foster name was Paisano), I adopted him from you all back in February 2003. I just wanted to thank you all these years later! He is the most amazing dog, and made a wonderful foster brother to several other Italian Greyhounds over the years. He is now 10 years old, and a big source of love in our house! Thank you for all that you do!

If you have pictures of your PAL alumni that you would like featured on our "Happy Tails" page, our Twitter feed, and/or Instgram, just email it, along with a brief description/story of your time together please, to our social media volunteer at 4PALpets@pal-va.org.
